The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is currently funding research to create the next generation condom that will change the way the world experiences safe sex. Even though condoms are great, they sometimes get a bad rap, mainly because they can decrease the sensation and pleasure during sex. So at UW, a team of engineers, scientists, and biologists are hard at work trying to invent a more pleasurable condom that will look, act, and feel more natural. Here’s what they’re working on:
They want to replace latex with a similar material that will have a more skin-like quality. That is, wet, self-lubricated, and very soft—sounds like the real deal to us! They’re currently testing this material for pleasure, strength and elasticity, and safety against STD’s and preventing pregnancy. They’re hopeful they can pull it off, and that this will change the world in terms of better, sexier safe-sex options. The future is now!
