The news is full of a widespread bug in OpenSSL, the software encryption library that 
secures an estimated two-thirds of the Internet. The HeartBleed bug allows an attacker to steal protected information directly from the affected sites and their users and allows them to eavesdrop and even impersonate websites and services. It’s a pretty bad one. In this case, the press coverage is warranted.
