After the recent Ted Cruz scandal in which his Twitter account “liked” a porn video, a lot of people learned a dirty little secret: you can watch porn on Twitter. While free internet porn is readily available, when it comes to social media Twitter is the only site that allows hardcore pics, gifs and trailers. Porn stars, who rely on social media to gain fans and market themselves, love Twitter for this reason.
“It’s allowed me to build a following in countries that don’t allow their citizens to access regular porn sites. You won’t believe how many fans I have in India and Saudi Arabia,” says porn star Tanya Tate. Admittedly, there is a sort-of gray area with Twitter’s acceptable use policy, where the company will often flip-flop on allowing adult content. But for now, the freedom Twitter offers stars and fans by allowing them to interact like never before, is a win-win situation for everyone.
