Janelle Monáe almost broke the internet when she debuted the now iconic “pussy” pants from her “Pynk” music video. The video features neon “Pussy Power” signs, pubic hair and, of course, synchronized desert dancing in pink pants that resemble vaginas. She said that she hopes the “Pynk” video can be a celebration of all women’s bodies, which is why she’s now thinking of mass-producing the pussy pants.
The Grammy-nominated singer recently came out as queer in a feature for Rolling Stone, telling the magazine she identifies with aspects of pansexuality and bisexuality. “Being a queer black woman in America ― someone who has been in relationships with both men and women ― I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker,” she told Rolling Stone. So, if you want to celebrate women’s bodies and a badass role-model, you might be able to rock your very own pussy pants soon!
