“While traditional Chinese medicine often stresses the potential long-term effects of excessive sexual activity, many do not realize that insufficient sex is also considered a cause of disease in Chinese medicine,” she added. According to the 2,000-year-old sexology text “Su Nu Jing,” people in their twenties should be having sex every four days, people in their 30s every eight days, and 40-somethings every 16 days. Sex with oneself is just as valuable at warding off disease—as long as you orgasm, which the ancient text claims is the miracle cure.
