Indiana University’s ‘SexFest’ Features BDSM Safety And Sex Toys

feet-1095408_1280Indiana University is bringing sex positivity to campus with its fifth annual SexFest, an event organized by student-run Sexual Health Advocacy Group. The school is hosting several events and demonstrations throughout the week, including a BDSM Safety Panel that will feature “personal stories from individuals who practice BDSM.” The BDSM panel even includes BDSM practitioners explaining and demonstrating proper technique for flogging.

Other events include “Kick-off to Kink,” which focuses on a “discussion about desire and communication” and includes an appearance from a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Another event features a “Kink Workshop” where people are able to “browse educational booths demonstrating the use of different sex toys.” Indiana University says, “Our public health researchers have found some evidence to suggest that people are engaging in a broader range of sexual activities and as a result, it is the IU Health Center’s mission to make sure they practice it safely, following the BDSM community’s principal tenets of ‘safe, sane, and consensual.’”
