Sydney’s oldest brothel—a series of lavishly decorated rooms hidden behind the unassuming façade of a compact terrace house—is up for sale with uncertainty about its future. Tiffany’s Girls has hosted thousands of pleasure-seekers since it first opened in the early 1970s. Billing itself as “the best brothel in Sydney,” it claims to “set the standard for excellence in adult services.”
Inside there are 14 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms with heavy red velvet curtains, gold statues of ancient goddesses, throne chairs, large jacuzzis and mirrors on the ceiling. But the fate of Tiffany’s Girls, along with a number of other long-running Sydney establishments, is unclear since the rise of adult online streaming services. The site encompassing five terraces and an adjoining corner building, all 10 minutes from the city, could be worth more than $13 million in an area quickly being overtaken by high-rise apartment complexes.
