Contrary to popular opinion, women enjoy one night stands—as long as they make the first move and enjoyed the sex. A study of 763 people looked at the differences between men and women when it comes to no-strings attached sex and found that women are more likely to regret a fling compared with men, who only regret passing up casual sex. Men also care less about who makes the first move.
Psychologists at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology said both genders are prone to regrets if the sex is bad or if the partner is “sexually incompetent.” Researchers believe that women’s increased feelings of regret over a bad one-nighter may have to do with evolution—that women had more at stake if she got pregnant—and the orgasm-gap. Since men are more likely to cum during a casual encounter, that usually cancels out some unpleasant feelings like guilt and shame.
