People are hunkering down during the pandemic with more than just toilet paper and Clorox wipes. According to a new study, sales are up for bondage gear, particularly handcuffs and whips, all around the world. The US has seen an 83% jump in searches for these items since the pandemic has started.
And the report suggests it’s a global trend: in Australia, searches for bondage material are up 125%, in Germany, they’re up 102%, and in Canada they’re up 90%. The statistics aren’t surprising considering that 1 in 5 people reported getting more experimental in the bedroom during quarantine, trying out new positions and exploring fantasies. Researchers predict people are branching out sexually during lockdown because all the extra time indoors is the perfect opportunity to have more sex.
