Robot brothels could be embraced by society in the near future, according to a recent survey. The University of Helsinki asked people whether sex with machines is morally acceptable, and the vast majority said yes. But there’s a catch—they’re only ok with humans fucking sexbots if the person is single.
Overall, people condemned the married character who paid for sex most harshly and single people less. Tufts University has also researched the topic and agrees that relationships seem to drive how people judge sex with robots. “The more you start thinking about it as something that could compete against or interfere with your relationships, that seems to be what people morally object to,” a researcher said.
