NEWS: Down on Dating Sites? Might Want to Rethink!

Oh man…dating sites have been plaguing me for years now, they just seem so unromantic, awkward, and far from authentic. I’m petrified of coming across an online profile that actually enchants me just to end up on a date with a psycho like Wookie from ‘Something About Mary’, and I’m sure men are reluctant because they could end up sharing an evening with Large Marge’s twin. I guess that’s when the ole leap of faith comes in, and you just gotta try it out.

Statistics are showing that it’s worth a shot, according to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 30% of couples that got hitched between 2005-2012 met online, HELLOOO that’s nuts!

The study involved almost 20,000 people, was funded by eHarmony, and had independent statisticians involved. “It’s a bit of a mystery to us, but it could be because people who sign up for online dating are more goal-oriented toward dating in the first place,” says Grant Langston, Vice President of Customer Experience at eHarmony. “Unlike, say, meeting at a bar, people who join an online dating service may be more serious about finding love. They may also meet people they’re more compatible with from the start. For example, at eHarmony, customers fill out an extensive personal questionnaire so we can best match them.”

I guess there is no shame in trying, I mean what are the odds of dining with Buffalo Bill and ending up as a skin suit!?! I’m a 30-year-old single woman, vintage dating rituals are clearly not working in my favor, watch out Tinder and eHarmony here I come!
